.....

So the mother, Barb has finally came to her sences and is getting a divorce with Dave.  She finally is letting him go and is not seeing him anymore.  This is finally the smartest thing that she has done lately.  It seems like Barb has learned her lesson about this and she knows what is more important for her children and not just herself.  She wants to make her life more healthier and wants to live a peaceful life.  She even has went to a doctor and has gotten antianxiety pills for her.  This is a big step and I can tell she has improved hugely.  She has gotten a new apartment and has invited Janice back in to live with her and Jake.  On the other hand, Janice I think is ruinning her chance of bein with her family and is going to end up on the streets or  in a shelter again.  She finally got what she wanted and she is back home and her mother is not with Dave anymore and she is still out of control.  I think she is bein the selfish one now and is just doing what she wants to do.  Even when she was smoking PCP with Dougie P. her girl friends came in and they were shocked at what she was doing like they did not approve of it either.  She also had sex when she was messed up on it and she barely knew what was going on.  That is a good way to get pregnant and that will just be another difficult step for her in her life.  She needs to slow down and start thinkin about her mother and Jake and live healthy and peacefully like her mom and appreciate she is back home instead of at the shelter.

main characters

Is Janice worthy of praise or critisism?  I think it could really go either way.  She could be praised for getting out of the abusive house and trying to find a new way to live her life.  A plus is that she is still going to school.  I mean she has not dropped out yet.  She is skipping class although and going and doing drugs.  She has not gotten in trouble either at the shelters and has not been punished by going to treatment which is good. She is getting along with the girls and she is doing what she is supposed to be doing.  She comes to the shelter on time every night and Janice has a job and she goes to her job every time.  Dolores does praise her in a way and when she comes back from her job and gives her money to them for them to hold and Dolores even says why can't the girls be more like you.  On the other hand, she does need some cristism because she seem like she gets worse and worse with the drugs.  She is having sex and trying to find love and to lure boys in so that then she can get married and live with them.  She is having sex with her friend's boyfriend and not caring about other people's feelings.  Another main person in the story would be her mom, Barb.  She is a character that would deserver critism.  She takes back Dave everytime it seems like he is more important than her own kids.  She then wants to have Janice come live with them and has a chance to go see her in her play and doesnt act like a mom that she should be and does not go and see her daughter perform.  She doesnt even call back when she is supposed to.  We will see if she will ever be worthy of any praise.

Girl Bomb

I think this story is very powerful and full of events.  I don't see her not having anyother family members than just her mom and her dad who is not there.  What about a grandparent or close friend of her mother's.  I don't see why her mom can't let Dave go.  She tries to say to the councelor at the second shelter that Janice is the one with the problem and she is not.  I think the mom really is the one with the problem because she lets Dave take over her life and try to tell her what to do and then has a baby with her.  He always tries to find a way back into Barb's life and even though he knows he is ruining her relationship with Janice he does not care because he is the one who wants to be in her life instead of her daughter and so does Barb it seems like.  She wants Dave more then her own daughter.  She is letting Janice go around and smoke pot and such things and not paying much attention to her and I think if Dave was not in the picture then Janice would never have gotten into any of these problems.

Title

The book girl bomb I thnk has a unique  title to the book.  I have not come across why exactly it is called this but I think its because the girl is a bomb ready to go off.  Everything in her life seems really stressful and there seems to be alot going on all the time.  She is a bomb ready to blow up and snap out on her mother's boyfriends she has all the time and on her mother every so often for letting these crazy guys into their lives.  She ends up in a shelter and the girls are yelling at her and making comments and she just wants to blow up.  When is her life going to relax and be peaceful.  But instead it keeps getting worse and she has no one to lean on and she is about to blow up and do things about it which she did by going to the shelter, but other things she just snaps and  lets loose in the wrong ways.

Free Choice

So far the book has been pretty descent.  There are alot of slow moments when I thought it would be more action filled.  I guess it could just be waiting for another climax of the book though.  I think it is good that she is going to the Stco meetings and putting in her ideas.  It was weird that she just got up and ran out after she had a good idea.  There were a few people who didnt like her being part of the meeting but I think for this project it should be open to anyone and not just the student council.  Everyone should be able to put in their ideas because everyone was a part of the incident and it affected everyone.  Jessica Cambell as we find out she was the one who told the detective that she was innocent.  She is being extremely nice to Valerie and tries to welcome her back into the school.  She is really the only one who welcomes her back into the school.  The principal never even says anything to her or talks to her when she comes back in the beginning.  Only when she sits in the hall for lunch he says something to her and it was not very nice.  I like how Jessica does talk to her and says even if her friend doesnt like her she will get used to it and get over it.  She doesnt care what everyone thinks and she doesnt care if people see her talking to Val and even her old friends dont do that and dont even talk to her.

Review of Hate List

The Hate List is a book for teens that will make you not want to put the book down.  It's a page turner and it will make you want to keep reading.  It is a good book for teenagers in high school.  The book reminds kids to stop hating and accept one another for who we are.  In the Hate List it shows how after the shooting everyone has forgived everyone for past moments and made peace with one anotherAfter reading this book it will make the reader think what if this happened in my school and it gives u a different outlook on everyone and things in the world.  The author writes the book in different times in each chapter. One in present time and then it changes to the past and tells what happens.  The author also includes newspaper articles so you get to know more about each of the victims. I would definately recommend this book to anyone.  It tells a lesson and feelings real kids would have.

?

I think it's weird how he shoots Christy Bruter in the stomach and not in the head of heart.  She was the first one on the list so you would think he would for sure want to kill her and know she was dead.  She was Val's worst enemy.  I don't know why he shot Mr. Kline either.  He didnt't do anything wrong.  He didn't really know where the other teacher was and he was being civil with Nick and he just went right along and shot him.  Another part of the text I was questioning about was why the man who cam in to question Valerie didn't question Jeremy more then he did his parents.  And something I don't like was how the book didn't tell about when he shot himself or at least it just hasn't told yet.  Did he kill more people after he shot Valerie or was it right after that? Did he go up to her to see how she was?

Hate List Title

I think the significance of the title has a lot of meaning and it says a lot about the book.  The novel is about a school shooting who a boyfriend and girlfriend discuss who they do not like in school and the boyfriend carries on the with the list more than it should have and ends up killing people.  I would think the hate list is the people they do not get along with and hate and think the worse on.  When I think about the hate list, I think about the movie, Mean Girls.  In this movie there are four girls that have a "burn book" and they cut out and paste the pictures of people they don't like or just make fun of and they right mean things about the person.  The book ends up getting out to people in school, but of course no killing was involved.  Titles have a definite significance to a story.  It ends up saying the title somewhere through out the book and when it comes into play you can tell there is a meaning to the book.  I think Hate List is a good title for the book. It is gripping from just hearing the title and it is just sounds hateful and makes a person curious about reading it.

Reading Can Better

I must be honest. I'm not a big reader and I'm not the kind of person to read for leisure time.  I used to when i was in grade school and I would before I went to bed.  It would help me fall asleep, but some books can keep me up and make me want to keep reading.  It seems like I don't have much time to read anymore. I either have homework or school and when I'm not in school I have work.  By the time i get done with my daily things, I want to be able to go do stuff and hang with friends.  When I go to bed now, it's put in a movie and fall asleep.  I think I should take more time on reading books because this is probably why I have to take this class and that reading is my weak point because I don't do much of it.  Practice makes perfect I guess and I would have been able to read faster then I do right now.  I think reading does give you more of an imagination and I would think would help you in school more and educate you more.  Even my vocabulary would progress because I do find a lot of words in a book that I don't know and I think if I start identifying them and figuring out what they mean my vocab would be more educated, rather than just skipping over the words and keep on reading.  When I am reading I want a book that will keep me reading and stay more interested in the book.  If a teacher asked me to read a chapter out of a boring text book, I can read the chapter and by the time I'm done, I ask myself, "What did I just read."  If the reading does not catch my interest, I can read and think about other things to myself while reading.  It doesn't work very well.  If I am reading a book that I like and interest me, I can keep reading and won't want to put the book down.
